The Founder

Arjun Joseph, the founder of Holy Cross School, New Thippasandra and Malleshpalya. He was born on 1st January 1955 and was the first child to minimalists, Annamalai and Savariammal of a little village Kelzpet in Vellore. A sister and brother follow him.

Although, he hails from a simple family he was a dreamer. He had an immovable faith in God and that became the foundation for his success. He completed his education at a primary and high school level from Don Bosco High School, with the support of Late Rev. Fr. Kurian. Later, he went to Thiruvannamalai in order to complete his ITI training.

Under the guidance of his maternal uncle, Mr. Selvaraj he joined BEML in KGF as an apprentice. In a few years he transferred to BEML, Bangalore. He worked hard and prayed harder. He was a secretary in the Parish Council, member of the Vincent De Paul, member of the Legion of Mary and he also taught catechism classes at the church. He also met our today principal, Dr. Mary at the church and they soon married.

In 1980, under the guidance of Portuguese, Mrs. Pamela Roger, he started Holy Cross School in Indira Nagar. He continued to work hard at BEML and simultaneously develop Holy Cross School. He is also known for fulfilling his duties towards his work at BEML and the school, even when he was admitted in hospitals for his poor health. He used to request permission from the doctors and leave the hospital for a few hours every day to complete his duties.

Although he was the founder he used to conduct High School Science and Maths classes whenever there was a need, as it was his areas of interest. He demanded respect from all he came across. He used to ride a scooter. Many would behave well when they heard the sound of his approaching scooter.

Apart from being a true professional, he was also a good parent. In spite of his busy schedule, he used to make time for his family, taking them places in his scooter. He’s also known for his culinary skills. He used to try new recipes for his family. His parenting was strict but always laden with love.

He loved the literary works of M. Karunanidhi. He travelled in his scooter to faraway places such as Trichy, in order to listen to his speeches. He also loved the theatrical works of Shivaji Ganeshan. He was known for his pious, benevolent nature. Many loved him for his warmth and the friendly aura that surrounded him. He made friends with everyone wherever he went. Many, even to this day, speak very highly of him. He truly believed that everyone had immense potential to achieve the unachievable.

On 5th November 1997, he breathed his last but his legacy will live on for many centuries to come.
